As a Dutch organist grown up between (recordings of) historical organs, in great contrast with this I wanted to choose radical designed modern instruments. I truly believe that the best organs that strive for a synthesis of styles, rather than imitating or approaching a certain historical style, can match in another way the soundquality and -beauty of organs from Bach's time; more than that, I wanted big instruments in gracious acoustics, equipped with a setzer and preferably a swellbox, simply because I believe Bach would be more interested in an instrument with more possibilies rather than less. Not being a baroque specialist, especially with Bach there is for me an undeniable influence of later musical styles on interpreting his music; I will not deny that I find a 'historical informed' approach only a starting point, not necessarily leading to a stylistic right-or-wrong interpretation, nor preventing later soundworlds and playing techniques to be applied to Bach's music.
