The organ (Strumphler-Orgel) on this recording can now be heard in the Grote of Eusebiuskerk in Arnhem. Here, on this historic recording from 1949, the organ can still be heard in the Reformed Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam, better known as De Kloof.
In 1792, a schism took place in the Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. A group of orthodox believers refused to accept a number of innovations. This group of believers held fast to the old customs and called themselves the Restored Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Shortly after the split, the Reformed believers purchased the former Dolhuis on Kloveniersburgwal and converted it into a church building. In 1796, Johannes Strumpfle built an organ.
When the two church groups merged again in 1952, the church building was sold. After years of being used as an archive by the Dutch Central Bank, the building now serves as “Het Compagnietheater”.
A recording by the radio station ncrv (Nederlandse Christelijke Radio Vereniging)
