This recording celebrates a fine organ replica in a place that holds meaning and historical significance for both the British and Americans. Sir Winston Churchill delivered his famous ”Iron Curtain” speech, entitled Sinews of Peace, on March 5, 1946, on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, with President Harry S. Truman attending. The Church of St. Mary, Aldermanbury, was in ruins after the German bombing of London during the Second World War. In the 1960s, with the interest and support of American president John F. Kennedy, this historic Christopher Wren church was brought over to the USA, piece by piece, and restored and reconstructed with the expertise of dozens of artisans upon the Westminster College campus. The Churchill Memorial and Library occupies the church undercroft.
